Overnight rain caused the red neon sign to bleed onto the wet pavement.

Across the Parking Lot

Looking the opposite direction from yesterday's photo is the backside of Union Station.   There is a walkway to the right and above photo that brings you over to the Freight House where there is great food; Lidia's, Jack Stack BBQ and Grunauer,  a German and Austrian cuisine.

Wedding Cake

The only photo we were allowed to take inside the Diana Exhibit was this one, a replica of her wedding cake created by the Marriott here in Kansas City.  With so many people moving around this exhibit it was difficult to get the photo I wanted but I did want to show the one I was allowed. (not the best picture)

Princess Diana

This weekend I attended the Diana exhibit at Union Station.  The exhibit was created by the Spencer family and displayed home movies, childhood mementoes, correspondence, funeral rememberance and many of her fabulous dresses including her wedding dress.  Pictures were not allowed in the exhibit.  Union Station is such a beautiful building.  I told you more about the station here.

Old Pershing Road Post Office

Just down hill from the Liberty Memorial and across the street from Union Station sits the old main Post Office.  The building was built for 4 million dollars and was occupied in September 1933.  Today the postal facilities have moved to a much smaller space within Union Station.  The IRS built a huge modern building just on the other side of this building and also now occupies this historic building.

Snow Finally!

All my CDP friends have been posting photos of snow and since we hadn't had snow yet, I was anxious for the day to arrive when KC had it's first snow fall.  During lunch today I walked out and took photos.  This is Union Station in the snow.  I previously posted a photo this summer of Union Station, see the difference here

Union Station and Downtown

Union Station is in the foreground with the skyline of downtown Kansas City, Missouri in the background.

This picture is for my friend in Cleveland, who knew the Kansas City Massacre - Charles Arthur "Pretty Boy" Floyd.   happened at Union Station.   The Beaux-Arts station opened on October 30, 1914.
