Standing Figures

Standing Figures by Magdelena Abakanowicz.  The artist asks what is your interpretaion of this piece.  It reminds me of soldiers and war.

That's what they suggest to me too. Quite striking.

I think they look like "suits" plodding off to the office and the mindless never-ending work that awaits them there.

interesting sculptures and yes, i feel they are war-like too...

It does have a war-like theme to it. I think it's just a bit frightening.

There is a similar installation by the artist in Vancouver.

An interesting collection of sculptures. I like the "suits going to work..." interpretation. Great series.

I'm speechless...probably has to do with the fact that they are headless--NO head, No tongue, NO speech.

A little disturbing...but fun that the artist welcomes our interpretation.

They feel zombie-like to me. Powerful piece!

This one is a little darker. Certainly with the time-frame this artist lived, I'm sure she was touched by war and I see it in this work too.

A fascinating work, which you captured well. I think they are extras for The Night of The Living Dead.

I agree with Victoria on this one. Their headless because after a while we all look the same or lose our heads out of stress.
