Although this piece is in the permanent collection of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, an
exhibit inside consist of 40 bronze Rodin sculptures from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation. Since I was in the sculpture park early in the morning the museum had not yet opened. I will be visiting this exhibit in the near future. This is a cast of the original located in Paris.
I read a book about Rodin years ago. His life was quite compelling.

Is that the real one? How cool.
He's thinking about a cheeseburger for lunch!
(just a thought ;)....
I do not know anything about Rodin...I'll have to check him out. I'm with Randy...the original?
I remember seeing the original in Paris a few years ago and then there was another inside the Rodin museum there.
I guess there are many copies of this statue. It looks as nice in KC as in Paris! :)
I seem to remember reading somewhere there are seven "official" castings of The Thinker, and this is one of them. Nice photo.
I think there are a lot of casts of his pieces! Nice shot.
I had never really thought much about Rodin...then we went to Paris for our 50th anniversary and spent some time at the Rodin museum. It is an incredible place and he was an incredible sculpture. So much fun seeing and photographing the original of The Thinker. I'm going to be doing another slide show on Paris and will try to include some of our shots taken in and around the Rodin museum.
Glad you like the Colorado slide show. SW Colorado is very beautiful. Our daughter lives at 9000 feet in Cotopaxi and she thinks it's heavenly! :-))
We love to visit, but prefer Florida for living!
Thank you for the kind comments and I'll look forward to more of your Rodin pictures...
I have always liked The Thinker. So, Kansas City has one, too? That is impressive.
Though I love Rodin, I prefer Camille Claudel's sculpture. Try to read a book about her!
