George C. Bingham

One of the earliest prominent owners of this property was George C. Bingham, a famous Missouri Civil War artist and politician.  There are several buildings on the property.  Shown above is the backside of the carriage house.   To the right is thought to the home of one of the early owners, which Bingham used as his studio.

What did he paint?

That is a grand carriage house. He must have had several carriages.
Tours haven't started yet at the Tovrea Castle. It will probably be another six months. They are just completing construction of the visitors center.

Sometimes those houses hide secrets. Interesting that Bingham were an artist.

I remember a painting of raftsmen by Bingham. This place would be worth a visit.
