Hodge Park

Hodge Park has a Wilderness Run in the fall every year.  For the event they mow a path thru the brush for runners.  After the run the paths provide walking trails for those inclined to use.  The park itself has baseball and football fields, and lots of wide open space.  I have frequented this park for years.  For years it was not mowed during the sports off season, however over the last year improvements have been made.  A gravel path was installed around half of the outside perimeter, regular mowings, and a bridge over the creek with paths to the Shoal Creek Living History Museum (where I took my theme day photo of the year).  Thank you KCMO Parks Dept.

it sounds a lot like the area across the road from me, "greenfield"...we have a sports complex there which has several baseball fields, then there's some soccer fields and places we hold football practice and the high school track team does there thing as well and it's got several acres of walking paths like this one that they are so good about keeping mowed, even in the winter. it's my favorite place to take ozzy and walk! plus there's some really neat old slave cabins and cemeteries and a neat old house.

I'm up for a walk along this path.

I don't know of anywhere in the central part of the city that gives a walking experience like this. I think that's why I spend so much time at the Botanical Gardens. All the walking paths give me an opportunity to walk and enjoy nature.

Yes, interesting walking path. I don't like to hear a crunch under my feet when I walk so I would tend to do more like Sharon and go to the Botanical Gardens!

Pretty scene though!

I'll be right over! I spent 2 1/2 hours walking on a photo safari in Paris today, I'm ready for trees and paths! :-)

And it is a great place to walk the dog!

I like this. It looks different from the eastern edge of Missouri. This is redder and dryer than we'd see over here.

I think as photographers, we begin to appreciate our cities even in the winter months. I love the colors and textures here.

This looks like a great place to walk with a camera. Put it on the itinerary for when the CDP bloggers visit KC.
