Through the Vine

Some of you may be familiar with Lidia Bastianich from the Food Channel or cookbooks, her name is well known.  This is her restaurant here in KC just down the street from the Kauffman Center and the food is fabulous.  The space is in a former railroad house and resembles a large Italian farmhouse.  This area is known as the Freight House district and is just north across the railroad tracks from Union Station.

The trees up front are suffering from the extreme heat we have experienced for the last two weeks.  The Missouri river is still high and a major highway north to Omaha is still closed due to flooding.

I'll be over for lunch.
The vine is reddening here and the chestnut trees are brown (diseased all over Paris suburbia ;-))

Strange, because we haven't had summer since mid-July...

Beautiful entrance.

Seeing those trees breaks my heart for everyone impacted by the heat. Oh, my, I don't think you could have shown a better photo of contrast, although I do agree that you can see the humidity in Sunday's post. Whew!

Poor trees. Sound like it would be a great place to try.

I like the looks of this place. Let's hope that the problems for the trees is just temporary. It would be a shame if they were lost. (Thanks for your clever comment on my blog today.)

My garden is suffering this summer too and it is not nearly as hot here. The ivy makes the restaurant entrance look quite cool.
