Benefit from Trees

While walking at Happy Rock Park this weekend, I found many several trees with signs attached to them.  It was interesting to see a number attached to the benefit we see from this tree.  Each tree had a different number.  This benefit can be seen in stormwater reduction, improved air quality, higher real estate values (and property tax receipts), carbon storage, and energy savings.  Visit www.heartlandtreealliance.org for more information.

Yes it did rain a bit during my walk, thank goodness for hoodies.

This is a pretty interesting approach, Regina. At a time of universal municipal budget cuts, this organization is smart to do some of its advocacy on ecoonomic terms, instead of only ("only?") beauty and nature. Another arrow in the quiver.

I like this educational approach to learning about trees.

Regina, the orange flower on my site is the bloom on a prickly pear cactus. Prickly pear blooms come in orange, white, yellow or pink depending on the variety.
