City Market

Since 1857 City Market has been the largest farmers market in the midwest.  Yesterday photo of the Steamboat Arabia sits in City Market.  There are 30 full time businesses in the Market that offer specialty foods, restaurants, floral, home decor...  The farmers market is open year round every Saturday and Sunday offering fruits, vegetables, baked goods, bedding plants and much more.  Once the weather gets nice this is the place to be on weekend mornings.  This area is also known as the River Market because it sits right next to the Missouri River, just adjacent to downtown KCMO.

Sound like a place to explore!

I am glad that lots of cities have been able to preserve (or develop) food markets. Boston has the Fanueil Hall Marketplace, developed in the 1960s, and Columbus, Ohio, where I worked until last year, has North Market. They are a source of good food and they have a sense of continuity. City Market has an inviting sign.

Oh, how my dearly departed husband and I used to love to go to the City Market! Thanks for the memories.
