Hodge Park
Hodge Park has a Wilderness Run in the fall every year. For the event they mow a path thru the brush for runners. After the run the paths provide walking trails for those inclined to use. The park itself has baseball and football fields, and lots of wide open space. I have frequented this park for years. For years it was not mowed during the sports off season, however over the last year improvements have been made. A gravel path was installed around half of the outside perimeter, regular mowings, and a bridge over the creek with paths to the Shoal Creek Living History Museum (where I took my theme day photo of the year). Thank you KCMO Parks Dept.

Shoal Creek Living History Museum
Through my wanderings at Hodge Park (yesterdays photos), I stumbled into the Shoal Creek Living History Museum, a village of more than 20 authentic 19th century buildings. Most of these building date from 1807-1885 and sit on 80 acres in Hodge Park. The entrance to this area is different than the athletic fields I've pictured in the past. The Museum has special reenactments throughout the year to bring Missouri to life in that era. I had never realized the Museum was this extensive. Last weekend when I took these photos was beautiful warm weather as you can see, this weekend has been cool with overcast skies.

Walk in the Park
Hodge Park by my house has baseball and football fields and can at time look pretty rough, because once baseball season is over they don't mow the grass. Lots of folks (including me) use the park as an off lease area for their dogs. Over the last year, work has been ongoing at the park, a new gravel trail has been laid and a new bridge over the stream in the back. Above my dog and I are walking, obviously enjoying our new area to explore. Below is the new bridge (not quite complete), and my dog beckoning me onward.

Waiting for Spring
With the snow and school closing last week, I don't think the kids were missing the baseball fields.
