Recovery?

We've all seen war conditions in movies and TV, but this is not how I would want to recover if I were injured or sick.  That mattress is only a few inches thick.  Our service men and women are so courageous and strong.

Have you ever read Erich-Maria Remarque's "all quiet on the Western front" and "the wooden crosses" by Roland Dorgelès?

Conditions are a bit better these days, but that room does look quite spartan! I can't imagine what kinds of things people experience in war. I'm thankful for those who do it so we can enjoy our freedoms.

Let me know if you read them what you thought of them. Remarque was German and Dorgelès French, I think the 2 books complement each other quite well.

Not the Hilton by any means! It is sad to think one would have to recover on that kind of cot!

Yes, it feels very stark. Things just were so simple.
