More West Bottoms

The West Bottom is one of the oldest area's of Kansas City.  The Missouri River and the Kansas River, now the Kaw River join at this point.  It is where the Kansas Indians traded with the French trappers.  Steamboats brought goods and with the development of the railroad, stock was brought and exchanged at this point KC Stockyards.  The importance of this area is detailed in The Original Kansas City  Kansas City grew up around the West Bottoms and now there are many abandoned buildings.  I have lived in KC for 15 years and the West Bottoms is one of my favorite places to explore.
