Western Auto Building

This building was built in 1915 and now is home to lofts.  Several years ago it was rumored that the new owner was to take down this historic sign.  This sign is a city wide favorite.

Park University

I took many pictures of Park University on this hot humid day.  The only one that didn't display the humid haze was this one with all the telephone wires.  So decided to go for.  Have a great weekend.

Parkville Neighborhood

Parkville, MO is a historic riverfront community.  Very artsy community and so much fun to visit.  The pictures this week have all been within the downtown area.

More West Bottoms

The West Bottom is one of the oldest area's of Kansas City.  The Missouri River and the Kansas River, now the Kaw River join at this point.  It is where the Kansas Indians traded with the French trappers.  Steamboats brought goods and with the development of the railroad, stock was brought and exchanged at this point KC Stockyards.  The importance of this area is detailed in The Original Kansas City  Kansas City grew up around the West Bottoms and now there are many abandoned buildings.  I have lived in KC for 15 years and the West Bottoms is one of my favorite places to explore.

First Friday = Vintage Market Weekend

Vintage Market is in the West Bottoms, a very old area - in years gone by, cattle drives ended down in the West Bottoms Stock Yard.  The area has become home to Vintage Markets, salvaged building or architectural elements and Haunted Houses.  First Friday is when Art Shops in the Crossroads Art District have an evening of art viewing.  Vintage Markets are now open on the First Friday weekend.  People flock to these Vintage Markets.  Many pictures of this area and First Friday in the Crossroads Art District will be forth coming.
